Irony, Oxymoron

Sometimes a speak We are surprised when we hear parallels that are not expected.  We are particularly interested when there is logic to the combination.

er says something that sounds odd and not logical but yet when thought about is amazingly logical.

Eg. A sad clown

Eg. Deafening silence

Eg. An honest thief

Jesus often used such surprising contrasts.

ye blind guides

I honour my father, and ye do dishonour me

If thy brother trespass against thee rebuke him, and if he repent, forgive him

when thou wast young thou girdest thyself, but when old, another shall gird thee

ye know me and whence I am. I am not come of myself but he that sent me, whom ye know not

ye make clean the outside of the cup but within they are full of extortion

all that take the sword shall perish with the sword

are not two sparrows sold for a farthing and one of them shall not fall without your Father

Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you
